Dear Daddy –
All up and going this morning if not so strong. The Krull children are here now. They brought gifts to John & Mark. I am going out to Bergens after lunch and order flowers for people I didn’t get to shop for. Bergens are going to handle the gift of flowers you sent thru the Army exchange. I received a greeting from Schlegels. Agnes said you had sent them a greeting. Our mail has decreased somewhat the past two days. It was rather heavy with greeting, letters & notices of packages the past week, but knew it couldn’t continue indefinitely. No letters from you today but maybe will be one or two tomorrow. Our weather has let up somewhat. Our snow is dirty and no sunshine today so it is rather dull looking outside. The snow is melting some and we can see
[page 2] grass in some places. If we hadn’t been sick might have been on our way to C.C. – however I never did think much of the idea since David is still so young. He eats pablum like an old timer. I hope it doesn’t back fire on him, like the orange juice did, after he takes it a while. I was all in last night so went to bed early and he slept thru the 10 P.M. bottle. I woke up at 2 A.M. and since I had to get up I warmed a bottle and gave to him. He was still asleep at 6:30 but I woke up and to keep him on schedule gave him a bottle. I think now he will be able to sleep from 10 till 6 because he can hold more now. He takes 6 oz a feeding and at 6 P.M. was still hungry after having 6 oz so I gave him a extra and he took it and was satisfied.
Have been to Bergens and also stopped in town to do my last minute shopping. Jim Fletcher’s widow works for Sharps now and she said to tell you she is still taking your medicine. She said she wished you could have been here to take care of Him. I also saw Dr. Matthews and he said he
[page 3] had a letter from you. I didn’t tell him we had all been sick. When I need medical advice I call Dr. Cole. I think Dr. M. is a little slow to give sulfa drugs and when a temperature starts I think that is the quickest remedy – Of course I am not an M.D. but know from your experiences what the sulfa’s do. We have all had a round so maybe we can keep fit for a while now. I also saw Mrs. Boonie while in Sharps. I haven’t been in the drug store for a long time – I haven’t been any place much but I have avoided going there for certain reasons. I got tired hearing her “squeak” about money. The last time I was there she was “combing” Boonie about spending some of her money for his dog. He reminded her that the dog was her idea. I said we always considered our money as belonging to both of us and Boonie said something about it being one jackpot. I think he gets embarrassed sometimes when she harps about money in front of people – Well so much for that – Just had to let off a little steam. I called Boonie about Otto Paul the other day and got some medicine for us there
[page 4] I sent Mark and he wouldn’t charge for the medicine. He gave Mark a pound box of cherry chocolates – I’ll bet he won’t be allowed to give us the usual nice box of Pangborn’s. (Meow!)
It has warmed up so much that after all that cold weather it really seems warm. I haven’t had the baby out for so long but as long as he keeps well and grows I won’t worry about it. He get vit. and I suppose he will be just as healthy without a daily airing.
The boys have been wearing your zipper overshoes. John has been wearing them to school but Mark has them on today to go to town. They fit John a little better than Mark.
Geo McCray said he rec’d your greeting. He called last night to tell me. I am trying to write this with John on one side and Mark on the other, both running off at the mouth so I am a little confused. I am enclosing a picture of David with his weight chart on the back. I think he looks like John’s baby picture in this also like your baby picture. If that is right that makes three of you from the same pattern. I must get this ready for Mark to take to town.
Love & best wishes for Christmas
