Lena’s Postcards #78 – Balzora

[Postmark: Sharpsville, Indiana, 1[1?] January 1918, 12:00—Lena’s birthday was January 12th]

Address: Mrs. J.W. Hackleman, R.R. No 2, Connersville, Indiana

Dear Sister—Many thanks
for your good letter—I heard
from Mame Gilchrist—Mrs. Huston
Mollie E, Ella’s girls—Allie
Wherrett & others. Christmas. It
was a great joy—Frank K. made
us a short visit—on Tues.—I was
glad their farm sold so well,
$245—so per acre—Bertha has
taken the farm she is on for another
yr.—Lara & Frank send love.
They are going old & so am
I. Times are hard with us—
but we get enough coal. Do
write again—with love—Bal.

[Editor’s note: Frank was one of Lena and Balzora’s older half brothers. Frank Kerschner was their nephew, son of their sister Ella. Bertha was one of Ella’s daughters. Balzora lived in Sharpsville with Frank and his wife, Laura, for many years.]
